Late P/—test

I have been experiencing early pregnancy symptoms (Or my body is tricking me into experiencing them) so I took a test Friday 6/29 and it gave me a negative. My period was expected Saturday 6/30 and I have yet to start ( I’m not typically late). I am still experiencing the same symptoms. Has anyone had any experiences with false negative tests? Just wondering if I should wait it out a couple more days or go ahead and re-test. Hesitant to re-test because each negative test feels like such a let down.
