Hey ladies, i was wondering about what you believe your parenting style will be, or what it is if you already have children. Also, does it align with your friends? How do you feel about that?

Take the question any way you want to, but I am personally focusing on rules/boundaries.

I was raised with pretty protective parents, my husband with the opposite. Now that I am older, I appreciate what my parents did and I want to protect my child from certain things. For example, my parents wouldn't let us go to sleepovers unless they knew and were really comfortable with the parents & their values. This kind of thing continued into high school, not being allowed to ride in cars with boys, for example.

My husband and his group of friends since high school, who we are very close with, are very open about sexuality and were allowed to drink with their friends at their homes (better try things at home then some place unsafe, their parents said). One thing I love though, is that they were more comfortable talking to their parents about sex and other things. I want to have more open conversations with my children.

I love my friends, but I do want to find other mommy friends to raise my children around that have similar beliefs. My kids will spend time around my current friend group because we are tight and supportive, but I want my kids to know that there are other families with rules like mine.
