Thoughts on eating before induction/labor?

Question

I’m going to the hospital at 6am and was thinking of eating a big breakfast beforehand. I have GBS so I need 2 rounds of antibiotics beforehand so it’ll probably be 10a-11a before I even get induced. 
Everyone keeps telling me that I’ll throw up if I eat a big breakfast but if I have 5+ hours before I’m induced, do you think it’ll matter??

You should ask your doctor what's better in your case, I ate a whole pizza hours before I went to the hospital and didn't throw up tho, but I wasn't induced so I don't know if those meds don't go well with food. Anyways, labor is long so you need to eat at least somethins because once you get there you won't be able to eat until baby is here.

I've been induced multiple times. DEFINITELY eat a big meal before you go. By the time you're in active labor, your food will be well digested. My first labor I ate very lightly and regretted it. They wouldn't let me eat once I was there, and by the time I went to push 19 hours later I was starving, weak and shaky. Second pregnancy I ate a ton before going especially protein and I did much better.

My water broke and I ended up having to be put on pitocin. I was scolded by a nurse for not eating before coming in. Like, I’m sorry it was 1230am when my water broke...so I went like 48 hours without eating. I’d say eat something. Maybe not a HUGE meal but something.

I would definitely suggest eating. They’ll start your induction right away, but you likely won’t be in labor for a long time especially if this is your first baby.

So I swelled up really badly and had to go to the hospital they ended up just inducing me because I was a day past my due date. I went in around 1pm and only ate something small that morning. I had my son at 6:06 the next morning (I had been up for 24hours with only something really small to eat) and I threw up before I started pushing. In all honesty I dont think it was from that small breakfast the day before the induction medicine can make you throw up even if you don’t eat. I personally suggest eating because they will not let you eat at the hospital

I was told to eat before I came in. Once the induction starts you’re only allowed to have ice chips or popsicles. I didn’t eat for over 24 hours. Make sure you have someone bring you food after deliver. My dad brought Wendy’s and I swear that’s still the best hamburger I’ve ever eaten!

PLEASE check with your doctor first.  Please.  I wasn’t allowed to eat two hours before mine, but was given a snack after 24 hours and very little progress.  They have very important reasons why you CANNOT eat.  I was induced and ended up with a csection.  If I had something to eat they wouldn’t have been able to do the csection safely....

I wasn’t allowed to eat when I got induced but I went in at midnight so I’d call and ask
