Is a bassinet worth it?

Question

We were gifted a pack n play with a bassinet feature... but that doesn’t do any of the fancy vibrations and such. If we get a white noise machine to go next to it, will that be good enough? Or will we regret not getting the halo?

I’d never buy a bassinet. They are a complete waste of space IMO. 
Babies grow out of them quickly, and you cant reuse them for anything. 
We had a basic pack n play with basic infant inserts. He slept fine in it. But he also was unable to use the bassinet portion by 10-11 weeks old, he was moving too much. So we put him in his crib and we use the pack n play when we travel

This is exactly what I did for my son, worked like a charm! I don’t think bassinets are a necessity

I never buy a bassinet...I put my sons crib in my room and he has always slept in it. I have a pack and play in the living room I use to hold diapers and change him and we use it when we travel somewhere.

We got the same thing and although my LO never slept in it (we co slept with the dockatot) we kept the pack and play in our room and used it for diaper changes for a good long while. Now it’s stripped down to the base and it will be perfect to keep my daughter in a safe place with a few toys or books for a moment if I need to carry my newborn upstairs for something (she still can’t climb the stairs on her own at 13 months obviously and I can’t carry them both)

We registered for a bassinet but it’s a little pricey so if we don’t end up with it then we plan to use our pack n play. I think it really depends on the kid wether or not it’ll work but over all yes I think it is good enough.

I bought both... the pack and play u bought more for the cottage then home use the halo for home. I'm planning on a second baby sooner then later so I figured it was worth the money to use twice then I'll pass it on to someone else

Not worth it, pack n play is fine. None of my 4 kids liked vibration

I had the bassinet piece on my two oldest and never used it.  I also didn't use a crib either because they wouldn't sleep in it.  I used a pack n play up until it was time to put them in toddler beds

my baby used the pack in play till he outgrew it. He never liked vibrating or swings he preferred to be rocked by someone so I say it all depends on your baby. get it after baby comes and see how baby likes it if not return it that's what we did with the 4Moms Mamaroo swing.
