Is it possible to have a good milk supply with your second child if you didn’t have it with your first?

Hello, im 12 weeks pregnant with my second child. I didn’t have much of a milk supply with my first child and ended up giving up and switching to formula. Now with my second I really want to try to breast feed again.  Is it possible for me to have a better milk supply this time?  I had a csection the first time and will have one this time- not sure if that matters..

Yes it is possible. Here are some things that may help: staying hydrated is so important so make sure you’re drink a ton of water. Skin to skin helps bring your milk in. Feed on demand even if that means baby is on your boob every 30 minutes. Pay attention to their diaper count. That is the most important thing. So many women think they have low supply, then they end up giving formula which only lowers your supply more, if baby is making enough wet diapers you’re making enough milk. Remember pump output does not equal how much of a supply you have because baby gets more than a pump.

I only breast fed my first for 3 months and thought he wasn’t getting enough because he wanted to eat every two hours i thought he was still hungry because he wasn’t getting enough i had a c section with him and started on formula.. but with my second also a c section he did the same thing ate just as much but slowed down by about 4 months he breastfed until he was a year and 2 months when i decided to take him off. I think you’re going to do fine just drink a lot of water and try and eat as well as possible. I think it comes with experience and support and the more you pump the more supply you’ll have your body will produce just be confident and patient you can do it!

I was prescribed a drug called domperiodone and it tripped my supply so I could breast feed I will be taking it again

Same happened to me.  I was only able to bf for 1 month.  I'm hoping for a better supply this time around but I'll also be prepared to supplement or switch to formula if needed.  At least this time I won't be so heartbroken if it doesn't work.
