Ezra as a girl name?

According to my internet search, Ezra means “helper”. It’s also the name of a male Hebrew prophet. I really like the name and plan on naming my child but we don’t know the gender yet. Does this work as a female name? I’ve seen females with names like Noa/Noah and Elisha which are also male biblical names. Does Ezra also work as a female name ? Thanks

No, to me it's like naming a girl Jonah or Elijah....it ends in the A sound, but is a masculine prophet

I definitely think it could work for a girl. Especially since it ends in A and has a neutral meaning. I’m 22 weeks with a girl and our front runner name is Bennet which means blessed and is very soft sounding

I know a couple people who named their girls Ezra. At first I found it a bit odd but I’ve warmed up to it. It’s not too crazy, especially because it ends in an “a” and is a pretty soft sounding name which I find cute and feminine.

I'm not a fan of boy names for girls. But if you are, then I think this boy name is just as valid an option as all the other boy names being given to girls lately (Emerson, Elliot, Noah, etc).
