Hi ladies,

I just went to my first ultrasound appointment today and I saw my baby for the first time. I’m at 7 weeks and 1 day and my baby is measuring closely at 7 weeks 3 days.

I asked if I will be able to have copies of my ultrasound pictures today since I see you ladies with your ultrasound pictures as well as my friends with babies in the past. The technician says legally they can’t print out my ultrasound pictures for me because of the HIPAA or HIPPA policy.

She did say she was going to let me take pictures of the screen but had to cover my name and information. She said she wasn’t suppose to let me take pictures but she’ll pretend she didn’t see anything. I live in Washington state so I don’t know if we have a different law here. But I asked my friends who were pregnant recently and they didn’t have this problem.

Is this common because I never heard of this before. Have any of you ladies had your office tell you this? I’m concerned and was thinking if I should switch OB office.
