Nipple Piercing and Breast Feeding

So I'm not pregnant yet, and we aren't trying yet. But I've had my nipples pierced now for a little over a year, and the more we make plans for our future the more I think about this question.

Is it possible to breastfeed with nipple piercings?

Has anyone had experience? Do you put a retainer in while feeding, take the barbell out, or just leave it there?

I've heard a lot of different things but idk what works and what is the actual experience. Anyone want to share their story?
