How can I convince my parents to support me

S

I’m 18, going to be 19 in September and I’m about to be a sophomore in college. I’ve been interested in acting since before Hugh school, but everyone told me i wouldn’t be able to make it. My mom told me she wouldn’t support me and I dropped it at that because I didn’t know how to get to her. I am currently signed up for acting classes at the barrow group in nyc, I’m here for the summer (I live in jersey) and I want to take acting further. My dad and my mom only care about me getting a degree and stuff but I want I act as a profession. My plan is to complete undergrad and do minor acting here and there and do background stuff or extras and commercials if possible, and my plays in college. During college I will continue attending classes to broaden my experience and exposure to this industry. After getting a bachelor degree I will pursue my acting career more seriously, I will look for agents starting my junior/senior year and go from there.

How am I supposed to make my parents understand that this is what I want? They assume that actors only get their way because they sleep their way to the top. But that’s not true at all! I mean sure there are scammers but I have people to help me know what is good and what isn’t. My parents threaten to not support me and not let me move in their house if I want to act, but I honestly cannot imagine myself doing anything besides that. I want to eventually move to LA and continue pursuing my potential career there.
