How much milk??? And burp problems???

My son is 4 months old, weighing in at 15 lbs. he’s been eating 4 oz every 3 hours, sometimes 4 if he take naps and sleeps over. However he still cries after he finishes a bottle. Should I up it to 5 oz? He’s also recently has been hard to burp. I try after 2 oz and then after 4. Sometimes he burps, sometimes he doesn’t. Is that normal?

My 5 month old is kind of big, 18.5 lbs at his 4 month checkup. He does 8oz at 8am, noon, 4pm and 8pm. He also has baby food at 11am and 6:30pm. Seems to work great for him! He sleeps from 8:15 to 7:30 every night. Try adding in some baby food or upping the ounces!

4 month old daughter is currently at 15 pounds and 6.3 ounces (6-27). She's eating 8 oz formula every 3-4 hours. She's also eating cereal in the morning. I was breastfeeding- until it dried up 6 weeks ago.

Umm I was feeding my 4 month old 6ounces, she’s now 5months and is eating a whole thing of baby food+rice mixed in and 6ounces of milk after that 🤷🏽‍♀️ but she does sleep all night and it’s that all during the day about every 3hrs

My also 4 month old eats 4-5 Oz formula every 3.5-4.5 hrs and also gets boob around the clock when I’m home. Which I’ve figured to be abt 2oz every two hours. He also cries after his bottle is empty. I’ve chalked it up to the fact babies are born natural suckers, some have a stronger need for non nutritional sucking, which is where and why ppl use binks. My kids never would take one.... my 4month old however discovered his thumb in desperate situations abt a month ago and has been using that for self soothing now and then when tired. Burping part goes that at this age their diaphragm and esophagus tissue have a tighter seal so spit up is usually less, and they are able to tolerate more gas.

Update- my son is now vomiting with the 5 oz. I have to go back down to 4.

My LO has 6oz every 3.5 hours or so. He's definitely ready for a bump. I'd try 6oz and see how far he gets. I was also having trouble with the half way burp, and my ped asked if she was spitting up or had problems and that's why I did it half way through, I told her it was most just habit from when she was a newbie. She said to skip the burp mid feed unless shes getting a lot of air. We've had no issues since waiting till the end for burps. Good luck!

when my son turned 4 months I increased to 8oz four times per day (7:00, 11:00, 3:00, 7:00) and he started sleeping through the night around the same time (with a bit of sleep training) 
just over 4.5 months I added rice cereal after the 11:00 bottle. 
at his 4 month appointment he was 14.7lbs and 26 inches.

I  say up the amount to 5oz. even 6 oz that'll probably help. as for burping...I just sit my son up for a bit(he usually sits up anyway). He usually burps on his own. The need to burp goes down as they get older. Try laying him down then picking him up...sometimes that helps the air move out. My guess is he is swallowing less air. Also let any bubbles go down in formula. Oh and you shouldn't need to add anything else if you dont want to. Rice cereal has no nutritional value and is just a filler. Its also known to have high levels of arsenic. If you don't want to use it. You don't need it. I have also read food can be introduced at 4 months but only a bit to get babies use to it...like a tablespoon. I have given my son banana. He is 5 months. I may try avocado next. Babies should be fine at this age to be 100% breastfed or formula fed though.
