TMI ⚠️ Questions about 3rd degree Tear

So... I’m 3 months postpartum (13 weeks) and though my 3rd degree tear was sewed and the stitches disolved, my tear was still partially open at week 6. By week 8 the tear naturally closed but the skin/tissue surrounding it was still healing and very tender. My Doc cleared me for sex by week 10. Unsuccessful due to pain and tenderness at perineum area where it was still healing. Since then and up until now (13 weeks) my husband and i have tried a handful of times, but I’ve only been able to tolerate sex about twice...

I went back to my Doc and the perineum area is still not healed... she had me set up a follow up with her for a month from now.

She stated that if in a month from now

(4 months postpartum) I’m still unable to have sex without pain due to the area healing that would be when she would order some hormone type cream that’s supposed to help soften and further heal the area. She said if that still doesn’t work, i would then sent me out to a specialist.

So after that long rant... has anyone experienced this prolonged healing after a 3rd degree tear? How long did any of you who’ve had a 3rd degree tear take to properly heal and how long to be able to have sex comfortably? I know the first time is supposed to be a bit uncomfortable (almost like being a virgin again), and it was uncomfortable for me but it’s also unbearably painful still.
