A friendly acquaintance in our church group just named their daughter the name that has been at the top of our girl name list for years now. It is not a common name, so it would be fairly obvious. The two girls would be around each other at least a couple times a month at group events, church nursery, etc., and will only be 5 months apart.

They had no idea this was our name, so they didn't steal it, but how do we proceed? Can we still name our baby girl that I've always envisioned her as and just ignore the comments about "nice name, wonder where you got it?" Should I mention to the parents before can't is born that we've been planning on that name for our first girl for years and we're not trying to crowd their territory?
