Baby daddy not drinking out of respect

I recently got my boyfriend a book called “dude you’re going to be a dad!” He really likes it and will read me little snippets here and there as he goes. The author said something along the lines of “you should refrain from drinking unless your baby momma says it’s okay”. Which okay yes I get, and I kinda agree with it. Not the fact that your man needs permission from you, or that he should stop drinking entirely, but being pregnant doesn’t automatically make me the default DD.

My boyfriend has definitely taken advantage of my inability to drink by assuming I’ll drive everywhere and he can drink anytime we go out, which is annoying. But that statement did open his eyes and he spoke with me about it. I told him “well it would be nice of you to ask, I mean you played an equal part in making the baby but I’m the only one who has to refrain from everything”.

He said that he won’t be drinking as often now, and said it is respectful to not drink occasionally because I can’t.

What are some thoughts on this?
