What is your bedtime routine?

My nugget is almost 6 weeks and she consistently has a fussy time between 7-9pm every day. She will cry unless we hold her up in a sitting position and I just have to keep trying to feed her until she takes my breast and falls asleep. I think maybe a bedtime routine would help but I’m not sure what to do for it. So what do you do?

8 weeks today and 2 weeks ago we started bedtime routine. Our 21 month old goes to bed at 7PM and sleeps through until 6AM. It’s very important to me to have early bedtime for the kids not only for them (they need the sleep) but for us adults we need some kid free time. 
Bedtime for the baby starts at 6:30 with a bath. He gets the whole family helping during bath time and loves it. Then we change and do bottle. He’s in his crib by 7:30 latest. The first week he would do minor fussing and I would pick him up and soothe him a little in the room and put him back down. I never turn the lights on after bedtime and his room has room darkening blinds and curtains. After bedtime i never bring him back downstairs. After a week of “teaching” he’s pretty much got bedtime down. Last night he went down at 715PM. I put him in the crib awake and he falls asleep within a half hour- hour, no crying or fussing since that first week. He slept until 6AM and only woke up once in the night when he ate in the dark and went right back to sleep. Picture of my happy little guy after his good nights sleep!!!
We do go against many of the “recommendations” today (both kids in their own room since 1 month old) but it works for our family! We are all happier when we are all getting a good nights sleep!

We start bedtime around 9:30. We change his diaper and put him in jammies. Then I feed him in my bed with a nightlight on and let him fall asleep on me. I only nurse him there at night. Then we swaddle him and put him in his crib in our room, and 95% of the time he falls asleep. He's currently 8 weeks and since the first month, he wakes up once around 3/4 and sometimes even sleeps through the night! We got lucky with his nighttime sleep habits

We start bath time between 8:30-9, put on clean pajamas, have a cereal bottle, and then a normal bottle if he’s still indicating he’s hungry, by then he’s usually falling asleep and I’ll just lay him down. He typically sleeps 10:30-5

Our “bedtime” is after her 10 or 1030 feeding. I put pajamas on and change diaper, swaddle her and hold her until she’s almost asleep. Then I put her in the rock and play.

I’m not going one yet. I’ll start a week or two before we move her to her crib in her bedroom. My plan is to get her in her room around 4 months. Then our routine will be bath (on bath nights), jammies, book, bottle, bed. As for now she’s sleeping 6-8 hours straight without a routine

My daughter is the same age as yours! Her pediatrician says it’s normal at this time period for them to be a bit more fussy than usual because they are going through a big growth spurt (bones growing very very quickly) so they ache a lot. That’s probably why she wants to be held a certain way rather than in your arms laying down. She says the best thing to do is nurture her! We start getting ready for bed around 7:30-8. I start off by wiping her down around her face and neck where milk usually gets to with a warm rag (can’t give her a full bath because they usually wake her up rather than making her sleeping), change her diaper and onesie. Let her play a little and stretch her out and give her a little massage so her body doesn’t ache too much when we lay her down. Then we feed her (I exclusively pump because she won’t latch, but maybe you can try feeding from a bottle to see if it makes it any easier for you so you don’t have to fight with her because I know that’s exhausting). Then we burp and put her to sleep. I usually put her on my chest while I’m in a relaxed sitting position and pat and run her back, she likes to fall asleep that way. Then when I know she won’t wake up I put her in her crib, it’s usually 9 by that time. Every baby is different and every night will be different. Just find your groove and stay positive! Also remember baby’s only way of communicating is crying so it’s not you! Just stay calm and positive because she can tell when you’re not! Good luck momma!!

We have had a bedtime routine since day 1, but we still struggle because she's not old enough to understand it means bedtime. Still, we do it to be consistent and she'll learn eventually. We change her clothes in her nursery with only a bedside lamp on and then I feed her with her nightlight and music on until she falls asleep. Then I hold her for about 20-30 minutes while she's asleep so her tummy can settle and it makes transferring her to her bed easier. She still sleeps in our room with our fan going for white noise. She's only 8 weeks by the way. A lot of times she will wake up after like 5 minutes and be wide awake so my husband takes her back downstairs until she's sleepy again and we repeat the routine until she goes down.

Around 8:30-9 if it’s tubby day, we give her a tubby, and go into the bedroom with just our table light on so she knows it’s almost bed time. she gets tired around 9:30, we feed her up to 5 oz, burp and rock her to sleep. She’s usually out around 10-10:30, sleeps till about 4-4:30. She sleeps in her own room, so when I feed her, it’s in there with just a night light and her sound machine on. We try to get as close to this schedule as much as possible.
