I kept my eyes open during the wreck

Savannah

We had just left my sisters graduation. About 10 minutes down the road, we were caught in dead stopped traffic on the interstate due to another wreck. My dad was driving our family of 6 and was almost completely stopped when this pick up truck with a horse trailer rammed into us. My mom, sister, and I were not wearing seatbelts. I remember thinking “tuck and roll” so I did that but I kept my eyes open and looked out the windshield as the car flipped over. Thankfully, everyone is okay. Just a few scrapes and bruises. But as if my anxiety wasn’t bad enough before... that image of looking out the windshield is burned in my brain. The nightmares finally stopped. But I still suffer from panic attacks every time I’m in dead stopped traffic. Even moments of panic if I see a truck like the one that hit us. My therapist said talking about the wreck will make it seem more like a story. So that’s really why I posted here. To write it as if it’s a story.
