nuva ring question!

So I haven't had my ring very long... 2 months. So I have my ring in for 3 weeks and the 4th I take it out for my period. But when I take out my ring for my period to start it takes 2 to 3 days b4 my period actually starts. My question is if I have sex on those days when my ring is out and I'm waiting on my period im I still safe from a pregnancy??
