Breastfeeding vs formula feeding?

My daughter was formula fed, and I keep hearing there’s a lot of benefits that come with breastfeeding. So I’m thinking about trying it this time around.. what do you mommies do? 
What kind of things can pass into breast milk? 
Is it difficult?

I exclusively breastfed my daughter for 7 months, just recently had to start supplementing as I’m 10weeks pregnant and my supply is basically nothing. It kills me that I can’t feed her but she nurses more for comfort now so I love the bond we have. I will say that breastfeeding is a hugeeee commitment and the more support you have from others, the easier it will be. If you plan on returning to work, pumping every 3 hours is hard, but manageable if you have a good employer. 
It’s a lot of work to breastfeed, but my goodness it’s totally worth it.

I’m pregnant with my first but I always thought about breastfeeding. It is the best food for your baby and it is free! but of course don’t kill yourself if you cannot breastfeed (you don’t produce enough or any other reason).

Lots of benefits for both mom and baby to breastfeed. It can be difficult at first but the more knowledge you have the easier it is.
Some of the benefits for mom: it’s cheaper, no bottle sterilization, having to lug bottles everywhere, having to wake up to make a bottle at night cause you can literally just whip it out nurse and be done, it lowers your chance of breast cancer, it helps you bond with baby, it lowers your risk of PPD, it helps your uterus shrink, it can help you lose weight. Benefits for baby: it’s healthier, it changes to be exactly what they need as the grow and if they get sick it changes to have more antibodies to help them fight infection, it boosts their immune system, it helps them bong with mom, it is a natural laxative so less colic and constipation issues, at night it has more melatonin to make baby sleep, in morning it changes to wake them up, it’s exactly what they need.

I’ve nursed 2 kids 14 months each and honestly had very very minimum issues (in the 28 months I had 1 clogged duct that hurt like a bitch and my daughter had a hard time taking a bottle at first- other than that it was seriously smooth sailing). It can be annoying to be hooked to a pump anytime you’re away from your baby. But the benefits greatly outweighs the negatives. Make sure you educate yourself (look into cluster feeding bc a lot of women think they aren’t producing enough when this happens but it’s 100% normal), look into things to help your supply, introduce a bottle of pumped milk earlier on so baby is ok with bottles too. Just research, research, research!! Take help from lactation consultants, ok don’t give up when it gets hard

I plan on both. You can never be too careful. My sister only breastfed and ended up hospitalized when her third baby was a few months old and refused to take a bottle since she was so used to breastfeeding. Let your baby be okay with both if able

Breastfeeding is great and it's worth trying.  It can be difficult when you're used to bottles and formula because your spouse or family can't feed,  unless you pump,  and it can be painful.  It is free and a great bonding experience.  I could only do it for a month because I had low supply but i'm going to try again and see how it goes.

I breastfed for two years. It provides benefits to both mom and baby. For mom it helps your uterus contract post birth, and lowers your risk of breastfeeding. For baby, it provides protection and antibodies and saves some money! Whenever my son and I got sick, his colds were so short, since he was getting antibodies from me! 
It’s not for everyone, and it can be challenging. My son only would breastfeed, no bottle at all and it requires planning when I wanted to go somewhere for a few hours. I was in intense pain for 7 months because he ate weird (no lactation consultant or child physo-therapist could figure it out). Everyone I knew who breastfed had some sort of struggle. Some didn’t produce any milk, and some never produced enough for 100% of babies diet. I was lucky in that realm. I will say it was 100% worth it and I plan on doing it again, regardless of the problems I had!
