Relationship

I have been together with my boyfriend for the past six months. Right now I am on a trip and I won’t be home for another month and being a part has been really really hard on us. Last night when we were faced timing he said I love you and I love him but I didn’t know if I should say it back. The reason for this is because a year ago I got out of an unhealthy relationship and the last time I said I love someone the person didn’t respect me and I’m scared.Do you guys have any advice on what I should do?
