Nexplanon constant struggle
This is my third implant, and although I haven’t had the best of luck with any of them, I thought this 3rd was the charm. It’s not!! Quick run down...
First one was touch & go. I cannot remember exactly when I first got the implant, but on my birthday, just a few weeks later, I’m fairly certain I had a miscarriage? I’m not sure how it’s possible, but I was sexually active (unprotected) and do not remember having blood work or a UA/pregnancy test before the procedure. Anyway, I had excruciating pain & nausea the entire day. I ended up passing a very strange piece/chunk (idk?) of tissue with several clots late that night. I still have a picture of it that I constantly revisit trying to decide. Technology. It was my 15th birthday. My now husband told me to do what I thought was right... which I decided was not telling anyone (including my OB) & pretending it never happened (🙄 young & dumb.)
For the next three months I had an endless period. Constant medium flow of various colors. Later just some occasional spotting here and there for the remainder of the implant. OB never called to have that one replaced & it was in ten extra months 🤷🏻♀️ no pregnancy in that time.
Fast forward to second one, which was dreadful. I had constant, random flow that was more than spotting - had to wear a liner or tampon every single day - but was brown & thick most of the time. I had horrible ovarian cysts and was seen by the OB several times for them & eventually given a Depo shot to augment the implant & try to help with the cysts. Kept that implant for the expected amount of time & cysts eventually stopped.
Now we’re on implant #3. I had it almost a year to the day (June 26) with no hiccups, but alas started spotting on June 25. Had a full period ending July 1st. July 6 I had light brown discharge and here we are, the evening of July 9, and I’ve had the dark brown, thick, sticky crap every day since. Over it.
This is an awful lot - not sure I even have a question at all. It’s more of a rant or an FYI. If anyone has any insight that’d be appreciated. I’m just waiting to see if this continues or what 😒 this WILL be the last I get!
