37 week delivery?

Went to the doctor June 25th (28 weeks 4 days), baby weighed 1 lb 15 oz. July 9th (30 weeks 4 days) she weighed 2 lbs 9 oz. Doctor said if she continues to grow without any complications the latest I will have her is 37 weeks. Is it necessary to deliver early?

Why would your doctor deliver you baby at 37 weeks? Literally makes zero sense to induce that early with mo complications or problems

Are they wanting to induce you at 37 weeks or is it just a guess of when you’ll go into labor?

Are they worried about her weight? Or is your health bad? My friends baby was really small at 30 weeks so they had to monitor the baby every week until they induced her at 36 weeks for nutrition

My doctor said they would do better on the outside than inside with gaining weight we had the same discussion. I don’t want to be induced but if it will help me and my baby in any way I will take it. I’m a first time mom and 35 weeks baby weights a little over 4lbs next scan is Tuesday is she isn’t at 5lbs or only at 5lbs I will be induced at 37 weeks. I have also had a really complicated pregnancy though I’ve been on bedrest since 20 weeks and as of 32 weeks no cervix as of 34 weeks 80% effaced and station 1.

I thought 1lb 15 oz was ok at that point? Seemed like you were growing on track. I’m not a doctor; so I’m no comfortable advising you. But if It wasn’t medically necessary and it was me— I wouldn’t get induced. There can be more complications with getting induced. I would see why they want to do it.

Did they say what percentile baby is? I know my doctor said if baby starts dropping off in percentile (so not making adequate growth) then that could mean a placenta problem etc and they can help the baby more once baby is out rather than having baby stay in. It did seem counter productive when others first mention it, but now I get that if there is an issue with baby getting nutrients, then keeping a small baby is doesn’t help.
