baby shower??

I've always heard it was "tacky" to have a second baby shower unless its been a long time since the last. But what about if this baby is a different gender? my first is a girl And she just turned 3 in May. would it be "tacky" for me to have another baby shower?

I was always raised to have a shower for the first. In my family, that’s how we do it and then after that we just have like, a party to celebrate the new little one. People can bring a present if they want, but it’s more about the excitement of the baby than it is presents.

Not at all. We have a 4 year old daughter and our 2nd will be a boy. My mil is calling it a "sprinkle" though, since the only things we really need are diapers and clothing. (all our larger furniture/items were purchased gender neutral and kept nice)
