Follicle or cyst ??

Question

Has anybody been told that follicle that was growing was actually a cyst but then it was actually a follicle ?? Confusing I know but nobody seems to know if mine was a follicle or cyst 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Depends on when in your cycle it was found. Cysts are usually left over from the previous cycle.

I just went through this. They thought it was a follicle but during egg retrieval they found out it was a cyst. The other follicles were not mature enough so I got no eggs during the retrieval. This was my last try because I have low egg quantity and quality. First one the follicles didn’t grow big enough, second one got 2 eggs, one fertilized but GPS came back abnormal. I’m so devastated now because I don’t think I will ever be a mother 😭😭

I had the same thing happen last week at my appt. it’s so frustrating. The tech says “have you already ovulated” I’m not sure. I’ve paid attention to my body twinges and aches for the last 19 months. I mentioned to her that the follicle looked rather large and her response was “it’s a cyst, or it’s a follicle” 🤦🏼‍♀️🙄

You can’t differentiate follicle from cyst from an ultrasound by looking at it. The biggest discriminator is time of the cycle and size which help to know the difference..
