In the UK we boil the kettle wait 30 minutes then prepare the feed in a sterilised bottle. It’s meant to be at least 70c in order to kill any bacteria in the powder but not too hot so that it removes the vitamins / goodness from the feed.

I always boiled the kettle then cooled the water, usually 2 bottles ahead. Then it was room temp by the time my baby bedded it. Overnight he was given cold formula and loved it. He would drink at least 2 oz from the time he was 2 days old.... I couldn’t breastfeed due to not producing milk.

You can use tap water. Our pediatrician said tap is better than bottled water due to the fluoride in tap water. That’s all we’ve ever used for our little guy.

(I'm a Twin mom of preemies born at 29weeks.) Boiling water sterilizes the formula and kills harmful bacteria so that premature babies or other babies that has premature or immature immune system can digest it and not get sick.  If you are using tap YES boil it. Bottled water already goes through a sterilizing filtration. As for filtered water from a fridge you can choose to boil it or not.

As long as it’s previously safe to drink you don’t need to it! I know some people in my apt boiled our water anyways Bc it’s city water but anytime I use the powdered formula I just buy water bottles.
