Verbally consenting to sex every time? **TW**

Question

Should you ask anyone you are about to have sex with, if it’s okay with them if you proceed? 
I was reading on here about how even if you don’t say “no”, or “stop”, etc. it can still be considered rape. 
Should you ask your boyfriend/husband every time prior to having sex if it’s okay to do so, too? How does that work?
Just wondering. Thanks!

That's just stupid. I read on here that a woman told her boyfriend she wanted to have sex, then while they were doing it she changed her mind but didn't tell him. She just wasn't into it. What in the hell is going on these days. It shouldn't be so complicated. Like if you want to have sex, them there are ways of getting that across. If you don't want to, then resist and say no. I can't believe people think I should have to verbally tell my husband I want to have sex, and then I have to say it again during just so he's sure.

My relationship doesn't need a verbal yes when we start doing sexual stuff. We will let each other know if we're not in the mood or comfortable at the time. I feel like if someone is having sex with a trusted partner, then a verbal yes is not needed unless agreed upon to verbally ask. If it is a random hookup, I feel like a verbal yes or no is really important.

There is such thing as implied consent. For example, in a medical setting the professional wished to check your blood pressure and you hold your arm out for them to check it. That is implied consent, you're using your body language to show it's fine and you agree.
Actively seeking verbal consent in a bedroom encounter could kill the mood, I don't think it's necessary to do so. Like if we are making out on the sofa and one of us says "wanna take this upstairs?" and we go upstairs, that would be implied consent and no need to ask if it's ok to have sex after that. So long as if one of you says "no" or "stop" the other listens and responds appropriately.

its common sense really. there is always some form of play leading up to sex, be it kissing, touching, removing clothes ect,  and if there is resistance than you will know not to continue. its sex not rocket science lol

I don’t believe you need to ask every time but if they don’t want to they need to say something instead of going with it. My husband and I don’t ask. If one of us doesn’t want to we will say not right now or maybe later.
