Is my health visitor in the wrong?

Sarah

Help! I recently moved and had my first HV visit in my new county. She didn’t initially make a good impression, but when we continued talking she was asking very generic questions (e.g if I’ve had female genital mutation?). She then asked me how I feed my daughter, I explained she has approx 4/5 bottles of Aptamil 1 milk (8oz) a day, and also a small amount of Heinz 4+ month baby porridge. She flipped- demanded to know why I decided to give my daughter porridge and how this is not government guidelines and I shouldn’t be doing it. I should mention my daughter is 5 months old, but is a little chunk and absolutely loves her porridge!! I would never force solids on her. I froze, how the hell do I explain to essentially a stranger why I felt it was the right time to give my daughter some form of “solids”?! I explained a few things I could think of (help with hunger/keeping her fuller/trying new flavours/I felt she was ready) and then said she is very keen to chew EVERYTHING and loves biting onto rusks and her fists etc. She flipped again and said in a very snide way “well don’t you know that is normal development for her to chew?” I explained yes I did know this. She did not once weigh her, or ask about wet nappies or her stool which I feel is important.

Am I right to feel pissed off?! I’m not sure if or how to escalate it?

Sorry for the rant ladies 😂👍🏼
