What was your annual income and how much mortgage did you qualify for? Trying to see if we should even bother talking to a loan officer...

It’s not just based on your income. Your current debts, credit history, and credit score factor into it as well.

We make roughly 61k and got approved for 350k.
Income isn’t the only factor. They look at your debt to income ratio as well. We both have auto loans and a little bit of student loans.

We make 140k/yr and qualified for up to 500k. We ended up financing 250k, on a 320k home. IMO, it's better to be on the safe side. We want to be able to afford it in the event one of us loses our job

We qualified for $300,000 on a household income of about $100,000. We both have good credit. 
We could have qualified for more, but specifically asked to cap it at $300K.

You can always go in to your bank and have them explain everything to you and getting an estimate without having them run your credit

We live in Iowa and my fiancé was approved up to 200,000. He makes 60,000 annually. We also went through USAA and used the VA home loan
