How to respond to an obgyn that criticized my pregnancy weight..

I had to switch doctors bc we moved and I got a referral to this OB that was supposedly excellent.

The moment I walked in after he reads my chart and asks me about my weight, he looks me up and down (like that look that bitchy girls give when they are judging you) and says “did you previous doctor ever discuss nutrition and exercise with you and the importance of maintaining a healthy weight.” I was sort of taken back when he said this bc while I am a bit overweight, I’m really not that overweight. The way he promoted the conversation and continued with only talking about me not gaining any more weight it couldn’t have been more obvious that he was overly critical of weight and pretty much dismissed all my other questions. I’ve gained 10 lbs so far (I’m 22 weeks). I eat only organic food since being pregnant and I walk daily. I am also in excellent health and my baby is perfectly healthy.

It really made me so upset and quite frankly so uncomfortable. I could understand if I was obese and had high blood pressure, high glucose, etc. but seriously?

I want to switch doctors but now I’m so insecure about my body and I’m afraid of another doctor doing the same thing to me.

What’s the best way to respond to a doctor who is overly critical of weight during pregnancy? I totally understand their general concern but for a woman who is healthy and has had a smooth sailing pregnancy thus far? I mean really...
