Hows it going moms of 2?

Question

For those that have just had their second baby how is your first dealing with it? What things seem to help? Due on the 23rd and just breathing every last bit of my toddler in before life changes a bit.  Do you have routines that seem to work? My toddler is in bed by 8 asleep by 830. Hoping her sleep doesnt take a shit as the last several months have been hell w naps and now shes finally taking one again.

I've been home with my 2 for 11 days. my son is 3 and is in complete love with his baby sister.  he's very independent when he needs something and plays on his own and always wanting to help with his sister. he gives her about 50 kisses a day and always needs to know where she is at.  I was so upset and worried my son would feel like he was being replaced but he has shown 0 signs of jealousy. I couldn't be happier with how things are going. routine is a little off as far as bed time but naps and meals on still on schedule.

It has been quite a roller coaster ride. My daughter was really jealous and confused the first time they met. She did want to hold her brother but cried when we told her to be gentle. Now he's home and she is fine as long as she gets one on one attention every now and again from her dad or I. She has been trying to help too which is cute, but worrisome watching a 20 month old try to pick up a newborn 😮.

My first turned 2 in May and she did great when the baby came home for the first few days. Then she was still good with the baby but had realized I couldn't chase after her or carry her, I had a C-section. She would do things on purpose knowing she shouldn't and that I couldn't do anything if she ran from me. She's doing better recently though and hasn't had much problem with the baby, just a little clingy with me now. We stuck to her normal schedule as before and luckily she didn't deviate too much. She's going to be 1-1/2 later then before but also sleeping in an hour more.

My first was 3 when I had my second and it was actually easy for me. He was very independent but always wanted to help. I did make sure I kept his routine as far as baths and bedtime and when I got the hang of having the baby, I made sure both of their eating times were about the same and after I had my first one ready for bed and in bed, that’s when i would do another feeding for the baby and got him to bed. It made it very easy to get a routine with both of them. I think it just depends on your first born and how they handle the change with a baby.
