How did you overcome trust issues?

I have mild trust issues when it comes to relationships, whether it be friends or a SO. It could just be that I’m insecure. 
How have you guys overcome your trust issues?

Time. The longer I was with my SO and saw how good he was and still is to me it made me start to trust him fully.

I had to come to the realization that you can never put all your trust into someone, and trusting someone is like playing dice... You never know if they will betray you in the end. You just have to give a few people the benefit of the doubt.

I went to a therapist and discovered that I’m not actually as inadequate as I thought I was. I discovered that I was actually worthy of love and worthy of someone to be faithful to me and worthy of having good friends. Then with time I came to my own realizations that a lot of it just comes from the fear of being hurt and the thing about that is that you don’t really have to be afraid of being hurt because anyone who hurts you doesn’t deserve to be in your life.

Find ways of dealing with it. Example, if your with someone, call them and they don’t answer. When you instantly start to think negative things rationalise with yourself. There could be 101 reason he hasn’t answered. Try focus on positive reason over the negative. If you want long, lasting healthy relationships, you’ll need to find a way to deal with this as the issue is with you, not them.

It took me a long time but I feel the same way you can never fully trust anyone but yourself! Love yourself first and do lots of self care even if it’s something simple, I found once I finally loved myself all the insecurities I had started to go away. Took a lot of work, I also tried to remind myself we are all human and we make mistakes. For me that made it easier to put trust in someone else.

You can’t really ‘get over’ trust issues .. if there is no trust then the relationship won’t work .. either get counselling or just live with it or don’t .. sorry I can’t be more useful
