Thoughts on stay at home wives? (Not stay at home moms with children)

Question

I don’t know too many stay at home wives and haven’t had much experience with it.. kind of an unfamiliar subject to me because I’ve been working since high school, work at the moment at age 27, and plan to be a working mom. I only know of one stay at home wife (no kids) who married a foreign husband, brought him over to the states to work, so she could stay home.. the girl is able-bodied but all she does is post selfies all day long lol. So my exposure to that is lacking and based on what I see from her. Sometimes I wish I had that option (and I probably do, but choose to work), some days I’m thankful for my career... 
any stay at home wives here? Any opinions on the subject? What led you to that position and how do you like it? What does your typical day look like? Is your marriage better off with it? Looking for a variety of opinions and answers just because I’m curious. Thanks!

I am a stay at home wife and I think it can go either one of two ways u can be a very lazy stay at home wife or a productive one. I was working before this but work began to be too stressful and my husband saw my struggle and therefore suggested I leave my job since he would be leaving up north to work and money would not be an issue.. so I quit my job and began to be a homemaker. At first it was a bit strange but eventually I found things that needed to be done every day.. everyday I clean or run errands. My house is 1000% cleaner and my husbands needs are all taken care of. I feel like it has somewhat been better for my marriage because I am able to not only keep the house nice and tidy but I’m also able to take care of all of my husbands needs and everything just seems to run smoother because I am able to prepare everything beforehand

I’m a teacher so I’m kinda a stay at home wife from June through mid-August. I couldn’t imagine being one year round though. When our baby is born I’ll be a stay at home mom, but at least then I’ll have the baby to take care of. 
Now I wake up, watch some tv, clean the house, take a nap, watch more tv, and cook dinner. Our house has never been cleaner and I’ve never been more bored.

I was a stay at home wife for almost a year before I got pregnant. I was a full time college student though so I didn't do nothing and then when I got pregnant I got really sick so I dropped out (and didn't go back because i already have one degree and planned to be a stay at home mom anyway). 
My mom is now a stay at home wife. She worked until I was in 7th grade when they decided to homeschool so she (a teacher) stopped working until I graduated. She then worked part-time for several years until she had some health issues and not enough time to get everything done. Now she stays at home full time; she has goats and chickens, makes all their own food from scratch, has a big garden and is currently finishing the house to be put up for sale. They are downsizing and she plans to go back to work once settled after the move. I go to her house a couple times a week and hang out or help her with stuff. It was very nice to have her available to help when I got morning sickness this time around and couldn't cook or shop or anything. 
I think whatever works for them is right but I also don't think that a stay at home wife should do nothing and be lazy. Find a hobby(maybe that could make money), learn something new, do something 🤷

I always worked my entire life. I love working. It makes me happy. I'm now a SAHM after 3 years after I got pregnant with my 2nd child. After my 2nd child was born, I became pregnant with my 3rd and final soon after. They are both boys 1 yr and 3 months apart. I don't live near family or friends so I am staying at home until they get old enough to where daycare isnt an arm and a leg (we also have an 8yr old girl). 
I cant wait to return to work. I get stirr crazy at home with no one to go see during the day and just around babies all day since my SO works a lot. 
Whatever works for you guys. If you and him both are okay with you being a stay at home wife, then why not? Who cares what anyone else thinks (family, friends, etc.). Do you and do what makes you both happy. The world will always be judgy no matter what you do, so do what makes you happy. 
Even when I worked full time before my youngest two were born (I NEEDED to work then for money issues), I got judgment from some idiot saying I was a bad mother for working 🙄. So, forget any nay sayers and focus on you and him.

im stay home wife  i use to work but working and taking care of the place was horrible  for me i cou d never keep up with the work i have health  issues so if i do to much work in one day i cant do anything  the next day or two point were i need help to walk or to open door so with me its best for me to stay home and clean i clean everday we live in 2 bedroom apartments easy to clean in one day for normal person but with me i cant so everyday i clean one room per day with lots of breaks so my body wont be in pain    this works great for my husband and i he comes home to clean apartment  and food on the table whell  most of the time theres time where he will cook tv dinner or pick something up since i couldnt cook but hes happy cus im happy and not in a lot of pain like was when i worked

I’m not married so I guess I was a “stay at home girlfriend” lol anyways I became one because the job I was working at was at a shitty part of town and the men’s homeless shelter was right there so me being a very petite woman they tried to intimidate me sometimes and I had an incident where the one man wouldn’t let me get in my car after closing the store down and it was dark and I have to leave in the alley. Luckily escalated to nothing and I got out of there but I quit because I didn’t want it to happen again and it be much worse. So I was originally planning to look for another job but my boyfriend (now fiancé) said it would be easier with me at home so we both aren’t trying to get time off when needed, wed have more time with each other and we had pets at home. So I stayed home , I did the cleaning , cooking and errands so when he was off we could actually spend time together or with family and friends. I got pregnant 4 months later so now I’m a stay at home mom to two little girls.

I’m a stay at home wife but I had the option of not working during my pregnancy. I’ve been working since the age of 13, I have great employment skills. I was working 2 jobs before getting pregnant. I’d go from one job to the other, not getting home until after 11pm. I’m definitely planning on going back after the baby’s born and letting my husband take a break. He works long, hard hours just so we can live comfortably. He’s  supportive, he just wants me to be happy and healthy. Plus he loves coming home after a long day at work to a hot dinner and a clean home. 
I love being a house wife, I love taking care of our home. And I love my husband for everything that he does for us.

I am one and have been since I moved in with my now husband. I’ll try and answer throughly.
What led me here? Well ‘back in the day’ my now husband worked 2/3am until 6/7/8pm, 7 days a week (he didn’t get to choose his hours. It’s an all or nothing thing, and he’d been working that same amount for the previous 2 years as well). And the town we live in used to be a super duper tiny (it’s still tiny) oilfield town in the middle of nowhere. So all there was was 1 store, a couple gas stations, a couple hotels, and then just the oilfield. Anyway, i moved from a different state to be with him, and had applied at all the non oilfield jobs (there’s no way in hell I could handle being in the oilfield) and was told that that no where was hiring, they’d call me if something opened, ect. Well a couple months went by, I did the whole housewife thing, kept checking back in on jobs annnd still nothing. So my now husband and I talked and were like ‘hey this situation is working out nicely.’ All he had to do was work, and then come home to a clean house, a happy partner, errands done, and hot food. It made it a lot less stressful and draining on him. And, well, I’ve always been the type who was ‘suited’ to be a housewife. I genuinely enjoy cooking/baking, cleaning, running errands, I’m organized, mellow natured, enjoy routine, ect. So it was a win win. And it’s kept going for these years despite his promotions and having to work less, the town growing and becoming more women/family friendly, more jobs opening, ect  because it’s still working out for us. 
Do I like it? Yes, absolutely. It fits my personality 
Typical day is basically just a mix of cleaning (I keep a spotless house or I get anxious) I cook and bake a lot, I run errands, my husband comes home for lunch, I have some hobbies, ect 
Is my marriage better off with it? I’m not sure, it’s been this way our whole relationship, but I assume yes? We’re both happy, satisfied, and stress free 
I’ll continue to be a housewife for the foreseeable future because we’re very financially comfortable and can afford it, and were both happy with the situation. We’ve discussed it and if I choose to work, it would still only be part time. If/when we have a child, I will be a SAHM.
