Would you keep the extra change or would you tell the cashier?

Question

I was shopping and had to pay £130. I gave the cashier £200 then I found an extra £30 so I gave her that as well so she could give me £100 back. She handed me £150. I told her she gave me too much change and it took her like 5 minutes to figure out what she did wrong like omg it’s simple maths jesus christ 🙄 my SO then said he would’ve said thanks and leave. What would you do?

I would tell them. And then I would not actually make fun of them for being a little confused. Some people get stuck on “simple math” sometimes. Especially if they have a lot on their mind. It was one moment of confusion. There’s no need to be rude about it.

The fact that I'm a cashier, I would tell them because if I did that and the drawer came up short on my acct I could lose my job.

As a former cashier, Ive done this in a rush and handed someone $30 dollars too much. They didn't say anything to me and left, when I realized what had happened I had to cover it out of my own pocket or I would've gotten fired. Granted, yes it was my own fault but taking the money knowingly could cost someone their job.

I would give it back so they don’t get punished and/or fired. 
Maybe they had a rough day or are going through some tough shit in life. Maybe they just made a simple mistake. 
Who knows, but I think it’s a dick move to keep the money.

The drawer would come up short and the cashier could and most probably would be sacked for stealing. I worked as a cashier for 2 years and we got questioned anything over a pound.

I would just politely tell them and  hand the extra bill back. There have been times when I used to be behind the register, and a customer would point out that I either gave them too much change or not enough by accident. Not on purpose, because on my end I’m trying to get my line down.  So things happen. Who knows maybe it was the person first day and she was nervous? I know for me when I use to work in retail ( clothing) we have to keep our drawer balanced at all times, and security see it when the register goes short. Also I wanted to point out that I’ve had several instances where I would come in for openings and closings, count the money and the drawer came up short. Usually when that happens I will call security and let them know.
