The people I babysit for...
are absolutely amazing in every way. I’ve been watching their boys since they were 3 and 6 months old, 4 years ago. They found me on care.com and interviewed me because I had experience with autistic children (family members and volunteering) and their oldest son had recently been diagnosed. I woke up with a sore throat this morning and was supposed to go over there tonight so I texted her, and her response was “that’s fine, take the day to feel better and if it’s gone tomorrow we can reschedule! We were going to text you about that later today anyways because we did paint activities yesterday and the smell is still lingering and we don’t want to put you at risk at all” (I’m pregnant). I just love them so much 😭💜
Their oldest son says my name a lot and he’s recently started calling me “Paige pancakes” 😂 He’s moderately autistic but he’s made sooo much progress in the time that I’ve known him. He was just starting to talk when I started there and now he can tell me what he wants with only a little prompting. When we do bedtime routine he says “Paige....happy....special” over and over and my pregnancy hormones make it so hard not to cry. I’m glad I’ve made a positive impact on his life and that he associates those words with me.
