Not the Birth I Originally Wanted.

Angel

But I am so happy to introduce my sweet baby boy Owen William McKee! Born 7lbs 1 oz and 20.5 inches long. Short story below.

I thought I wanted an all natural, unmedicated birth. I was very passionate about that toward the beginning of my pregnancy. But once week 41 hit, I was done waiting. I ended up being induced. I could have told my doctor I wanted to keep waiting but I just didnt! I had a moment in the hospital when I wasnt progressing well and my doctor mentioned possibly needing to discuss csection if I continued that way. I still had plenty of time before it was really a concern but I broke down hearing those words. It was the exact reason I didnt want to ever be induced in the first place. I felt like I made a huge mistake and completely failed myself by knowingly increasing my csection risk going through with an induction. But once I got the epidural, labor moved along quick, contrary to what I read about epidurals online. I remember worrying about all the effects an epidural, pain meds (which I had before the epidural via IV), and induction might have on baby and me. I read too many things online! When baby finally came I felt great, Owen latched right away, and he was very alert the entire first day. I had lots of energy! I was sore of course, but very excited to have my little guy with me at last!
