Road trip with the kids!?? 🤯🤯

Talk to me about road triping with littles?? We want to take a longnteip with a newborn (2 months give or take) and a 2 yesr old. We would not drive more than 8-9 hours a day with 2+ stops during the drive! Hoping to drive the majority in the evening but may do an 8 hour day drive... 🤷🏻‍♀️ Anyone have experience traveling far with little ones?! Any advice?

I travel all the time. The first roadtrip we took with the kids was when my daughter was 3 and my twins were 2 months old. Plenty of snacks and toys for the toddler is sufficient enough. But the babies are a whole different ball game. We drove 7 hours and stopped 4 times. So we could feed them and change them. Not much you can do to keep a newborn entertained. You need to stop and take the baby out to stretch, eat, be changed at least every 1.5-2 hrs.  Take snacks and activities and toys for the 2 yr old.

The little one especially should never be in the car seat for more than 2 hours at a time. Not only is it not good for their developing spines but prolonged time in their seat can restrict their airway (especially when sleeping). 
We’ve taken many many road trips with my son from around 2 months old to now almost 15 months. The most we ever do in one day is 8 hours actually driving which takes us 10 hours. (Ideally we prefer to only drive 6 hours per day, which will take us 7-8 hours) 
For an 8 hour drive we drive 2 hours then stop for a 30 minute break (during this time I would change and feed baby and give him time to stretch), drive another 2 hours and stop for a full hour lunch (I would have number stopped for a full hour on a road trip before, but I find my son really needs this break from the car. I change and feed him during this break as well and we typically stop at a restaurant and actually go in and eat for a change of scenery and a chance for all of us to stretch our legs) we then drive 2 more hours, take another 30 minute break and drive the final 2 hours. 
I always pack more diapers and wipes than I think I will need, a couple soft toys for entertainment and now that my son is a bit older we do bring an iPad with some kids shows saved (we make exceptions for screen time while traveling)

Yes. We travel at night while our daughter sleeps. Works best for us. 
Also: newborns need to get out of the car seat very often. Positional asphyxiation is real. Even if they appear to be fine, their oxygen levels get dangerously low if they don’t get out of the car seat often.

thank you guys so much for the advice! I feel a bit more confident now!! we made the plans last night and plan to stop at least every 2 hours for 30 minutes to stretch out and get our wiggles out!! I appreciate the response 😍😍😍
