Circumcise or not??

I’m sure there have been plenty of posts about circumcising your newborn but I’m at loss and need help! My husband is circumcised as well as all the men in my family. We have always planned on circumcising our son once we had one. Well I’m due with our first son in September and apparently insurance doesn’t pay for it. I called around and it’s going to cost us anywhere from $250-$300 to get it done & they require it cash up front! That seems like so much money so I’m trying to figure out if it’s worth it. Please let me know your experiences!

I think it’s a barbaric practice that we’ve just normalized as a society. 
It’s taking a knife to the penis because we think it’s cleaner. 
Other societies take a knife to the vagina and we think that’s crazy and sick.

You are going to receive  lots of opinions on this topic for sure. However there is no medical need for circumcision. Study after study has been done and its proven foreskin is not dangerous and will not increase the risk of infection. No unnecessary pain for baby and no recovery time after an already traumatic birth experience. I could not afford to circumcise my son for this same reason and I worried so much as a single parent I would have a lot of issues but he's 11 and we've had 0! I just made sure to show him how to clean himself in the shower. I vote for leaving babies intact unless you have a religious requirement.

my son is not circumcised and neither is his father. I personally have never met a man that's had a problem because he was not circumcised. I chose not to do it because I don't see that point. I'm not against having it done either

It’s a lot of money for an unnecessary procedure. Where I live  men don’t have circumcisions unless there’s been an issue and they need one for medical reasons

Honestly you're going to get crazy comments on here. there's women who feel very strongly about this from both sides. this should be a decision between you and your husband after doing the research and weighing pros and cons. They have stopped doing it in hospitals because it was found to be a waste of hospital time and money.  I did not circumsize for a few reasons but the BIGGEST reason for me, was that my son needed heart surgery when he was born. for 2 weeks in the hospital I watched him go through horrible, painful expierences he did not understand. I was extremely traumatized by it all if I'm being honest. there was no way in hell after I brought my baby boy home after that entire ordeal I was going to take him to yet another doctor and pay out of pocket for him to go through even more pain. I'm not religious so I just didn't feel that strongly about it.

I personally am against it, so is my (uncircumcised) husband. It is unnecessary and was started as a religious practice. With that being said it's your child so do your research and do what you think is best for your child.

Hmm that's completely up to you, in my opinion I'd get it done just to potentially save him in the future. My SO didnt get circumcised till he was 5 due to an infection and it a worse experience. I wanted to get it dont when my son was born but we have to wait till hes 1 due to a defect in his urethra as he will need surgery & forskin taken off to graft. Now, that's gunna suck due to him being older. I'm not ready for that day.

better to get it done now,I have heard so many stories of kids needing it done when theyre older or as adults . the older the more painful

I mean unless you really decide it’s worth the $$ I wouldn’t bother. My 16 year old isn’t and we’ve never had an issue (both his dad and step-dad are circumcised but they don’t stand around comparing junk so I doubt he even knows they don’t “match”). None of the many boys/men in my family are circumcised and not a single one has needed it as an adult either 🤷🏼‍♀️ Circumcision is almost unheard of outside North America and yet the rest of the worlds men are fine. $300 could buy a lot of other nice things.
