Why the F won't he sleep?!

My 2yr old has begun FIGHTING sleep to the bitter end! It's been worse this past week. We put him to bed by 8 (his usual bedtime) but he'll still be up crying and with every excuse in the book until after 10! We've tried everything we can think of! Please, someone help!

Sounds completely normal. Sleep regression/pushing boundaries which is totally normal in toddler ages. My suggestions:
1. Make sure you have a set bedtime routine. Things that help him know it’s time to wind down. A calming bath, story reading, singing songs, whatever. Just something they can look forward to every night and signal that it’s bedtime. 
2. Make sure that prior to bedtime he’s worn out physically, has played hard, but leave time to let his mind wind down. I don’t know if you do electronics but I highly suggest discontinuing use of them at least an hour before bedtime. 
3. Be consistent. Odds are he’s just trying to see what he can get away with. As long as you continue to be in charge and not let him win the battle, even once, he’ll eventually give up the fight. 
And remember that it’s temporary! You’re doing good, keep it up!

I'd suggest moving bed time earlier say 6 so once he has finished fighting sleep it will be 8?
