How to introduce a pacifier?

My son will be a month old next week and is exclusively breastfed. He started taking a bottle from my husband this week (2, both times went well) but when I tried to give him a pacifier/ soothie, he refused. I'm assuming it maybe has to do with me giving it to him or I'm not introducing it correctly? Any advice?

If he doesn’t want it, don’t give it to him. It’s not necessary.

I’ve only ever used the BIBS dummies with my 3 month old since birth. I’m not sure if she would take the ones that press against the face ( can’t stand the look of them either personally 😂) might be worth trying a few different brands maybe :) 
Some babies will just flat out refuse them though

He might just not like it. My daughter absolutely refused one, my son had one from 3mon till 2½ish.

My son didn’t take it at first. Or if he did it was only for a few seconds. But I wanted to be able to end night feedings sooner than later (when he was ready of course) so I just kept trying. He ended up ending nighttime feeding around 5 months and started sleeping through the night with help of the pacifier
