Planned induction w/epidural turned to natural birth!!

Cassie

Last Wednesday my husband and I woke up at 5 am to get ready to head to the hospital and have this baby! I was 4 days over due and knew he was getting big. I ultimately planned for a natural childbirth without an epidural... I was so heartbroken when I had an induction planned because I knew that I’d most likely cave for an epidural with pitocin contractions... our hospital was one hour away... once we left I thought I had a contraction but thought it was in my head.., we stopped for a quick bit to eat and then I knew my contractions were real. They were every ten minutes by the time we got to the hospital. Once I was checked in and hooked up my contractions were 3-5 minutes apart and my doctor checked me and I was 7 cm!!!! I couldn’t believe it. I had a membrane sweep the day prior so I knew there was a chance I’d be in labor soon. I was so happy- no induction for me! My husband and I walked the halls from 9am-2pm... the contractions were about every 2-3 minutes at this point so I headed back to my room. At this point I was 8 cm dilated and 100% effaced... I was starting to really feel my contractions and they came hard! At 330 my baby was coming and after 3-4 pushes he was out!!! My little boy was 9 pounds 14 ounces.

I ended up hemorrhaging pretty good after birth and they had to go manually back up inside and get everything out and let me tell you that was AWFUL!!!! We are home and happy now though, it was all worth it 💙
