Hostess gifts — standard ?

I posted this on Ovia so you may have seen it over there. I have 5 hostesses throwing me a small shower and I’m wondering if gifts are expected or if a nice thank you card is enough? I’ve helped throw several baby showers and never once did I expect a gift in return. I did get one once and thought it was nice but it was unexpected for sure. Thoughts? If you think I definitely should get them something — what can I do that won’t cost me a ton ?

Even just a coffe mug with a saying on it or something small you know they would appreciate. Even if it’s just $5

I bought my aunt a bottle of nice vodka. I think if someone is putting together a party for you, it's worth it to say thank you in some way!

My best friend didn’t host our joint celebration, but she did step up and help out day of and paid for our balloon decor out of nowhere. So I want to do something nice for her, I’m just still trying to figure out what I want to do. 
I may get her a nice bottle of champagne or look for a cool new piece of decor for her new office (she just got a promotion).

With my last baby my best friend and her mom threw our shower and I got them both gift certificates for a pedicure. My husbands friend just threw us one for this one and I got her a bath and body works gift card for $25.
Just a little something to say thank you will suffice!

I got my mom a certificate for a pedicure and my sister a target gift card (I know she has 3 pedicure gift cards sitting around and she loves target but hates spending money).

Exact same thing- I had 5 people on one side hosting and 2 on the other side- I bought each a $10 bottle of wine and they were all so appreciative! It’s just the thought that counts

I had several hostesses and just did a bag with a bath and body works shower gel, a bath bomb, and a loofah. I found loofahs and bath bombs really cheap at one of the discount stores and bbw had a sale on shower gels so it wasn’t too bad.

I did my host and hostesses personalized glitter wine glasses. I actually did them myself which didn’t cost me much. I had one host and three hostesses.

I didn’t know this was a thing, but after reading and doing some research it is apparently standard ettiequte to get the hostess a gift. I have two hostesses and am just as stumped! Following!
