How often should a child see their grandparents?

How often do your kids see their grandparents? My mom complains she doesn’t ever see my daughter to people. We see her once a week and typically spend at least 4 hours there. We live 45 minutes away so it’s hard with a infant (4 months). I’ve invited her over because she’s a stay at home wife to my dad who works in the town I live in. But she always complains about the distance or says she doesn’t have time. She also gets upset my husband (who doesn’t like her) stays in our room with the door shut when she’s over. Opinions? My husbands parents have never met our daughter (religious issue theirs not ours. I’m Christian so that’s against their beliefs) so my parents are her only grandparents

Kids live States and countries away from their grandparents. She needs to put an effort in to visit too. Remind her that she’s lucky you’re only 45 minutes away

My daughter only sees her grandparents 1-2 times a month and they’re o my 20 minutes away. They always make comments about wanting to see her, but they never actually make plans or ask to come over. I don’t feel like I should have to go out of my way to have someone be in her life more than they want to be.

My kids see their grandparents once a week. My parents have never complained about this but my in-laws constantly complain that isn’t enough. They act as if it’s their right to get their grandkids whenever they want. My husband and I work all week; when we aren’t working we want to be with our kids and decided if once a week isn’t good enough, they can see them even less.

We do a family dinner once a week with my parents. We're only there for like an hour and a half. We live about 20 minutes away.
My husband's family lives in another state so we only see them a couple of times a year.
It's the responsibility of both sides to make an effort to visit. You visit them regularly, they can return the favor or stop complaining.

Why does your husband stay in his room. To be honest, that doesn’t sound very welcoming and I can understand why she is not coming to visit

I dont get along well with my in laws... that being said and due to circumstances, my son stays with them for 3 nights a week usually. My son sees his great grandparents, my grandparents, at least 2 times a week as well due to the fact that they are a huge part of my life. Plus my grandpa has Parkinson's disease and since my son was born has been doing a lot better as my son encourages him to move around a lot more and interact instead of just napping in his recliner.

i make it a two way street. my husbands mom thinks it's my job to cultivate a relationship between her and my son and I dont so since she never tries to see him I never try to visit her. 😞 my father in law is the opposite and he visits his grandson at least once a week so I make a point to go out of my way to visit with him in return.

My little one sees his grandparents quite often. My husband’s mother babysits for us once or twice a week when we work and she doesn’t and we see her almost every Saturday for a couple hours at a time and she may come over once a week as well (especially when he hits a milestone age). 
My parents babysit for us the other days that we work and my husband’s mother does because they are both retired and are happy to help. 
But that’s just how our family works. Your mother sounds like she spends enough time with your baby considering the time and distance it takes to visit. If she really wanted to visit more, she could make the effort to come to you.

My parents live 7,5 hours away in another country and they plan on visiting as much as they possibly can. And we will try to not have one huge holiday but stretch out holidays for taking more often Fridays and Mondays off so we can go and visit the family in Germany. And Skype when she is old enough :)
