ARE CONDOMS SAFE ENOUGH??

Question

I’m thinking of having sex for the first time but, after reading a bunch of horror stories about the supposed ineffectiveness of condoms, I’m getting second thoughts... 
I can’t get on the pill since my mom doesn’t want me to have sex and now I really don’t know what to do 😫

I lost my virginity with my boyfriend this year and we used condoms only. I was terrified because I heard a lot of what happens and how they break or you can get pregnant yadda yadda. 
Honestly it’s most likely going to be fine, I used them and felt everything online is just a small margin of people who use them 
If you do use them though, there are important things to note to ensure it’s as safe as possible. 
1. Make sure it fits well; not slipping off or anything like that. It’s supposed to be a little snug but make sure during sex once in a while it’s not slipping off or anything (don’t be overly worried about this though he can just check nonchalantly once in a while to be safe) 
2. Always, I mean always, squeeze the tip and roll it on so you remove as much of the air at the tip as possible. This helps prevent breaking, honestly I would put it on my boyfriend to ensure 100% it was done properly 😂 he has to practise a bit more. 
3. Always check once the sex is over that the condom is intact. Don’t have to inspect it closely but just gotta make sure it’s not torn or broken because if that small chance happens where it does break, it’s good to know before he tosses it. Weird I know but you wanna make sure. 
Overall it’s most likely fine! My sister used them exclusively for years and over the hundreds of times she used them I think they broke twice and nothing came out of it, so it’s just a small chance :) be safe!
