Would you want to stop speaking to your dad if he started dating a 19 year old?

My dad is 48. My mom divorced him three years ago. They did not leave each other anymore. I have no ill feelings towards that. Well yesterday my dad told me he had a new girlfriend. I was excited for him and I don’t mind having a stepmom. Then he told me she is 19. I wanted to cry. I don’t even want to speak to him. I’m 17. This is so wrong to me and embarrassing.

His life or not, you can still have your own opinion about his life choices. Personally I find it gross, I’m 20 and if my dad started dating a girl who could be his daughter, I would definitely see them differently and start questioning our relationship

That's gross to me. If she was 30 and he was 60, it wouldn't be as bad. But the human brain doesn't stop developing until your mid-20s. Since she is so young, it seems like he is taking advantage of her. What could they possibly have in common?

I don't think I'd stop speaking to him but I wouldn't want to be around the two of them and I wouldn't want to hear him talk about her either. She could be your older sister in terms of age. I personally find it gross

Honestly if my dad started dating someone that was 19, she’d be the same age as my youngest brother (6 years younger than me). Their age difference would be nearly 40 years. They’re consenting adults and can do what they please. But, quite frankly I couldn’t handle it. I honestly wouldn’t be able to understand why a 57 year old man would want to be with a 19 year old. It’s make me feel sick because at 19 you’re still so young and just starting to figure out how to be an adult. It’s just too close to pedophilia in my opinion. I’d distance myself from him personally. He can do what he wants, but if he’s going to date girls that are just barely legal then I’d be stepping away.

She’s two years older than you so yeah in my world that disgusting. Everyone’s gonna have a different view but yours is the one that matters. You are his child he does need to take some consideration into it. Also very few 19 year olds are mature enough for a long term relationship with a 48 yr old
