How soon do you have to be to the hospital if your water breaks?

My water has not broken yet, I'm just curious because I've heard different things...

It depends. If you’re GBS positive right away. If not it’s kinda up to you.

When my water broke I went almost right away to the hospital. They put me on pitocin which I didn’t want. Granted I had him fairly quick but pitocin just makes things difficult esp with no epidural. If it happens again I’ll wait at home bc I don’t want all the interventions this time. Contractions should start within 24 hours, or so I’ve read.

I gave birth 3 hours after my water broke. so it varies from woman to woman best to go as soon as it breaks though just in case.

I haven’t had my baby yet, but my mom told me when her’s broke, she took a shower and put her makeup on before heading to the hospital 😂

My water slowly leaked throughout the day. My midwife made me find out if my GBS test was positive or negative. It came back negative, so I was told to go to the hospital, but to take my time....

My water never broke until sometime after I was admitted. (the nurses never knew when it broke but it was intact when I was admitted) If my water did break I would go to the hospital immediately. They most certainly will admit you if your water has broke.

they want you to deliver at least 18 to 24 hours after your water breaks to reduce chances of infection.

I went in to the hospital before my water broke at 12:15am I was dilated at a 4 and could feel the sac. 5:00am my water broke and I was already dilated at a 10 at 7:28am my son was born. The doctors thought this pregnancy was my second since the birthing process was so quick. So if your water breaks at home I would call the hospital if it’s after hours to see what the OB wants you to do if not after hours call your OB’s office.
