Should the tampon string be firm and somewhat difficult to pull out ?

Its my second time using a tampon . The first time i was able to get it in all the way with no pain but then i got scared and took it out and it hurt a lot . I tried to put one in today and i can get it in , but im afraid its gonna be hard to pull out and it will hurt . If you put the tampon in all the way and pull the string , is it supposed to stay there firm like a tight fit , or is it supposed to give a little a move ? I’m afraid its gonna get stuck and be painful to remove . When you pull the string a little it feels like it is attached to your vagina and will take it with it . I worry too much but is this normal since its dry? Is it supposed to be hard to pull out when you first put it in ?
