Friend zoned

Kaelyn • Don't find fault, find remedy...

My male best friend was my high school desk mate, and we’ve known each other for two years. We are so close that we share family problems and even sex preferences!

I had feelings for him in school, but now that we already graduated and don’t see each other as often, my feelings are not as strong.

But when we last met a couple of days ago, I spoke to him about how pressured I felt about having to have a boyfriend in college, since everybody told me so. He looked at me all in seriousness, and said “you can’t date in college.” At first, I thought he was joking, because he used to tell me how he wanted a girlfriend in college. Anyway, I asked him whether he was joking, he was really assertive and said “GPA comes first, and dating is no more than a distraction”. I was really surprised by that, and he went like “I won’t date in college, I mean...unless I see someone 100% perfect, even that I’ll be very careful about it.”

Guys, do you think he likes me more than a friend? And do you think it’s a little selfish of him to keep me close like this but never make a move? What should I do?
