Ultrasound at 8 weeks?

I’m about to go to my 8 week appointment in a few days and I have no clue what to expect. I can see some of you ladies are getting ultrasounds at this time. Of course I want one but I’ve also seen a lot of others saying they didn’t get their first until 12 weeks. What were your experiences?

I’m in the same boat. My first appointment is next week at 8w+1d. I’m going to call my doctors office today to ask what to expect at that first appointment .... hopefully there’s a scan!

At the 8wk mark with my first I saw a little peanut through the abdomen :) she was a tiny peanut shaped dog and you could see her cheerio looking yolk sac :)

Hi - I just did my ultrasound at 6w6d. Some of my learnings are:
- Due to how early my ultrasound was, we did both an external and internal one (vaginal). 
- The external was first in which I had to drink 1L of water one hour before the appointment. Unfortunately we were unable to see a clear picture.
- I was asked to empty my bladder (pee) as much as I could and returned to do the internal one.
- I thought it was going to be uncomfortable but surprisingly it wasn’t. I had to sign a consent form allowing them to do this.
- The image quality was great and we saw more details then we were expecting - which included a heart beat (video image only, no noise).
- They were able to measure the baby and confirm to the best of their abilities they everything was ok.
Potentially because your further along I would believe you would get to see even more (potentially even hear a heart beat).
