making enough?

my son is 2 weeks old and i am breastfeeding him. we had a slow start because he was in the nicu the first week and now im worried that im not producing enough? he breastfeeds exclusively without seeming to need a bottle afterwards, but when i pump in between im only getting about 2 ounces in a bottle. is this enough to be freezing for him for when i go back to work? not sure how much newborns need to eat.

What you pump is not a good indication of your supply. If baby is gaining weight and producing enough wet/poop diapers then your supply is plenty❤️
I never responded well to my pump, So couldn’t make much of a freezer stash🤷🏼‍♀️ but nursed my son until 15months. He self weaned due to me being pregnant and supply dipped.

2 oz in between feeds for a 2 week old!?! Girl that’s fabulous! If bubby is content then you’re doing amazing. Try not to worry about your freezer supply... he will provide you opportunities later - like when they start to sleep longer and start requiring less feedings. Good luck!

Pumping is not an indication of supply! Baby gets much more than a pump. 2 ounces is a great amount. I froze some 2 ounce bags and some 4 ounce bags just cause they do want more as they get older. If you’re pumping 2 ounces each pump session you can either freeze it right away or put it in the fridge and add your next pump session with it when you freeze.
