sleeping arrangements for twins!?

Hi all! I'm trying to figure things out in my own head after being told I'm pregnant with twins and wanted ideas on what everyone is doing/did for sleeping arrangements for your twins?? We was going to get a cot bed and put that next to our bed so they sleep together. But I'm not sure. Any ideas?? Xxx

I went back and forth early in my pregnancy trying to decide to let them sleep together or separate. Most older twin moms I talk to say the twins couldn’t sleep without being next to each other, but newer twin moms are separating them and they sleep just fine. After reading a ton of research I’ve decided to be safe than sorry and they are going to sleep in their own spaces all night. For napping I don’t care I’ll be right there watching them. I borrowed a bassinet from my sister in law for onebaby and borrowed a travel pack and play from my best friend for the other baby. Both will go right next to me in or bedroom. Will be a tight fit but we’ll manage. They can’t go on the other side because it’s right next to the window AC. If they don’t like the flat surface I have two rock and plays I wanted to use downstairs for napping so if those work better they can go in the bedroom but I’ve read they are not supposed to sleep in those all night long. Either way if they don’t like the bassinets I borrowed so I didn’t waste money. I think it’s good to have some sleeping options. There room with two cribs is also set up and I want to have them napping in them by 2 or 3 months and then probably full nights sleep around 4-6 months.

My twins are four and a half months old and they sleep in their Rock and plays right by my bed :)

My twins slept together until about 3 1/2 months. My son started to roll belly to back and I separated them. It's kinda whatever you're comfortable with.

We borrowed two bassinets for our bedroom & have two mini-cribs for when they move to their small-ish nursery.  They’ll nap downstairs in a pack-n-play bassinet or rock n’ plays. (The rock n’ plays may even go upstairs if they hate the bassinets!)   We’ll let them nap together but the bulk of their sleeping will be in separate places.

since I've gotten home I've had my twins sleeping a pack n play close by. honestly the cot/bassinet is kinda a waste of space now. since my girls hate being alone.

I think it’s all personal preference. You’ll have to separate them eventually for safe sleep (when they start to roll). With my daughter, she went right into the nursery in her own crib and never looked back. She is 4 now, and won’t even fall asleep on a couch 🙄. I’d rather separate them as newborns and get them in a routine than have them be comfortable together and separate them when they are more aware of what’s happening. 
But I do think it’s so cute and special when they sleep together! I was very torn, but ultimately ours will end up in two separate cribs so I don’t want to drag it out.

I’ve read mixed things about letting them sleep together - if the cot is tiny one could roll into the other and suffocate (again this is just what I read).  I never wanted to do co-sleeping anyway. My twins are going in their own cribs (mini cribs) in the bedroom next to ours.  I got a video monitor with 2 cameras so I can watch each closely and I’m never that far away.  Separate cribs just seemed like the safest option to me.

We are using a large bedside bassinet for our girls. They will sleep together in our room until they outgrow it (we’re thinking 6-9 months) then moving into their own room. We may (or may not) use two cribs at that time. The cribs we do eventually buy will be the convertible kind, that eventually can be used as a toddler bed then full bed.
