Should I ask for the different car seat?

Question

So my in-laws wanted to buy a baby car seat from my registry. After they’d bought it, my parents suggested we could swap it out with one of those seats that grow with the baby, the ones that work for newborn up to 100 pounds you know? The price is about the same, and I know she wouldn’t mind exchanging the gift but for some reason I want to keep the seat we have now. Should I just ask to exchange it? 😂

Keep the infant seat. It's awesome to be able to take a sleeping baby in & out of the car easily.

Get the convertible seat as well. I'm a minimalist but even so I think both the convertible seat and infant seat are necessary.

I would keep it. Some hospitals require you to take home your baby in an infant seat not a convertible one. Plus until less you plan on carrying baby everywhere, a infant seat is essential. I promise you don’t want to get a sleeping baby out of the car seat unless you absolutely have too

When I had my baby the hospital said we need an infant car seat to leave the hospital with. 
They wouldn’t of let me leave with the ones that convert and stay in the car.

I would definitely keep the infant seat... yes it’s nice to have something that you won’t have to replace for awhile but it’s just isn’t as safe for newborns. Car accidents are so common and most of the time impossible to avoid so it’s better to be safe than sorry!

keep the infant car seat as you will not want a fussy baby for waking her/him up to take them out of the seat. where i live they ask us to take the car seat into the room before we leave the hospital to check that baby fits perfectly the also do some test thing with a small machine to see if it passes if not you can't leave from there. u can get the convertible one ones baby is bigger

I wanted to seat the grows with the baby as well but I feel as the infant seat is more convenient just being that if the baby is asleep and you go to the store or somewhere you can just take the entire seat instead of having to take the baby out

I personally prefer having an infant car seat for the first few months. My daughter always fell asleep in the car, and while we were out. With the Infant Seat I just moved her from the car to the stroller or vice versa without having to take her out. So she never woke up. With the convertible car seat she wakes up every time I take her out even if she is in a deep sleep.

Should I ask for the different car seat?
