I’m not trying to start a vaccine war so please let’s not do this here. But for those of you who believe in vaccinations, I have a question for you. Who are you asking to be vaccinated with Tdap before baby comes? We asked our nanny, our parents, my sister, and her husband. For those of you who are wondering why, Pertussis (the P in Tdap which is whooping cough) is dangerous for babies and can be carried by adults. Even ones who don’t have symptoms. So it’s recommended for caregivers to make sure they’re up to date. I figured these people will be the ones handling my baby the most at the beginning of her life. My FIL is being a little annoying about getting the shot but I think he will end up getting it before baby comes. The shot is recommended every 5 years. Most of my family is covered because my nephew was born last year and my sister asked everyone to vaccinate.
